Director of Research

Patrick Payne focuses on industry trends, transactions, and target research for our client activities. He has built and sold his own businesses. Prior to joining Alexander Hutton in 2003, Mr. Payne co-founded Coastal Imports, Inc, a Central American import business. Serving as Director of Operations, he jointly shared responsibility for expansion into 17 Western US states.

From 1991 to 1997, Mr. Payne served on the startup team of ComPre, a technical training company providing end-user training to government and corporations, including Nordstrom, KeyBank and Nike. He participated in an employee buyout in 1996, assuming the role of Vice President of Operations. Mr. Payne founded the Malista Training Group in 1997 to serve the customized technical education needs of the corporate market. He led his privately held company to a strategic sale in 2000.

Mr. Payne received his education in philosophy from the University of Washington. In 1990, he achieved the distinction of becoming Microsoft's first Certified Trainer in both Microsoft Excel and Word.
